In the battle to win customer’s hearts and minds (and boost sales) marketers will do/try just about anything and that’s why we have such fun things as telemarketing, retargeting ads, chat bots and sponsored social media posts.  None of these are a good idea if you’re doing marketing for long-term solid customer relationships and not short term sales.  Most marketing teams don’t even consider the amount of collateral brand damage done by tactics like these.
